Samir Karahoda is a photographer, filmmaker, and cinematographer from Kosovo. He graduated in Photography and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. Known for his distinct and authentic storytelling, Karahoda’s work focuses on the social and political realities of life in Kosovo.
In addition to his filmmaking, he has curated the short film program at DokuFest, Kosovo's leading documentary and short film festival, for nearly 20 years.
Karahoda’s directorial debut, In Between (Në mes), premiered at the Berlinale in 2019, marking the start of his directorial journey. His second short film, Displaced (Pa vend), premiered in the Official Competition at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and received multiple awards, including the IMDb Pro Short Cuts Award at TIFF-Toronto, Best Nonfiction at Sundance, and a nomination for the European Film Awards. His third film, On the Way (Rrugës), became his second short film to be selected for the Official Competition at Cannes in 2024 and was also screened at TIFF-Toronto and many other festivals around the world.
